How do I kindly get rid of chipmunks making homes in my yard?

why worry with them?... you said you havent' even seen them yet.... so you're not even sure what they are!!!.... if it's moles, get some Castor oil and spray it where the holes are in the hillside... they'll get the idea to move.... if it's chipmunks, leave 'em be... they're fun to watch and they really don't hurt much of anything.... they play in my garden all day and think they're being sneaky when they raid the dropped birdseed!!.... plus they give my little terrier her exercise!!...
