Is there a counter-argument for this?

break evil into two types of evil natural and that which arises from man. Then you can say that any evil that is a result of man is also a result of free will and therefore not god's responsibility. as far as natural evil there is the argument that this world is the best world that could be made, or that natural disasters are not really evil but instead result in advancements which are good. ie famine leads to increase knowledge of storing food etc
